The Landscape Install Foreman will oversee and execute day-to-day installation operations while setting the standard for quality, reliability, and professionalism on the job site. This is a hands-on leadership role best suited for someone who leads by example, works quickly, can adapt to changing weather conditions, and treats both customers and team members with respect.

Key Responsibilities

Lead & Execute: Oversee and actively participate in daily landscape installation projects from start to finish.
Site Management: Coordinate site logistics, including loading and unloading materials, deliveries, and assisting skilled trades as needed.
Equipment Operation: Safely operate machinery and landscape equipment, taking responsibility for daily maintenance and upkeep.
Quality & Pace: Maintain high-quality standards while working quickly and efficiently to keep jobs moving on schedule.
Safety First: Maintain a secure job site by proactively identifying and removing any hazards.
Team Development: Help train and support team members in a positive, professional, and educational manner.
Customer Relations: Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, ensuring excellent service even on rainy or challenging days.
Independent Work: Stay self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently when required.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 4 years of Landscape Installation experience (Required).
Work Ethic: A proven track record of daily reliability, punctuality, and the ability to quickly learn our methods.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials, bend down, reach, walk at a brisk pace, and perform demanding physical labor throughout the day.
Outdoor Conditions: Comfortable working outdoors in varying Washington weather conditions, including heavy rain.
Requirements: Must have a valid Washington State driver's license and reliable transportation.
Work Authorization: Must be a US citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States.
Screening: Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screening (we are a strict drug-free workplace).

Pay, Benefits & Schedule

Employment Type: Full-Time, W-2 Employment
Pay: $50,000 - $60,000 USD per year, based on experience
Schedule: Monday to Friday, Day shifts (8 to 10-hour shifts) with overtime opportunities available

Position summary

The Landscape Install Lead / Foreman is a frontline supervisory role responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and executing landscape installation and related sitework to meet contractual requirements, safety standards and company quality expectations. This position translates scope-of-work documents and estimates into daily work plans, assigns tasks to crew members, operates or supervises equipment, inspects completed work and maintains field documentation.

The role is accountable for delivering contracted services on schedule, within planned labor and equipment usage and to the prescribed quality level. The Foreman reports to a project manager, operations manager or owner and acts as the principal on-site decision‑maker for field operations, safety enforcement and first‑line problem resolution.

Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)

Objective: Deliver installation projects on schedule. Key Results: 90% of assigned projects reach milestones per the master schedule; average schedule variance ≤ 5 calendar days per project.
Objective: Achieve budgeted labor and equipment productivity. Key Results: Actual labor hours ≤ 105% of estimate; equipment hours within ±10% of plan; variance reports submitted weekly.
Objective: Maintain high construction quality and client satisfaction. Key Results: Less than 3% of installed items require rework within the first 90 days; client quality score (per PM/customer feedback) ≥ 4 out of 5.
Objective: Operate with zero serious safety incidents. Key Results: 100% compliance with required PPE and toolbox talks; zero OSHA recordable incidents attributable to the crew.
Objective: Improve crew capability and retention. Key Results: At least one documented skill-training session per month; crew turnover for assigned crews < 25% annually.

Schedule adherence: % of milestones met on time per project.

For internal customers (project managers, estimators, operations): provides accurate field information for schedule and cost control, reduces rework and change orders by early identification of conflicts, and preserves resource (labor/equipment) efficiency.
For crew members: provides clear direction, on-the-job training and a safe working environment to enable productive, quality field performance.
For subcontractors and suppliers: coordinates on-site activities and deliveries to prevent delays and ensure materials and trades integrate into the work sequence correctly.

Primary responsibilities

Review contracts, drawings and scopes of work to determine required crew size, equipment and materials; prepare site‑level work plans and sequences.
Estimate and document daily/weekly labor and equipment requirements; record actual hours and report variances to PM/operations.
Assign tasks to crew members, supervise on‑site execution, and perform hands‑on work as necessary to meet standards and schedule.
Perform daily safety briefings, enforce PPE and safe work practices, complete safety checklists and report incidents or near misses immediately.
Maintain tools, small equipment and consumables inventories; request replenishment in a timely manner to prevent workflow interruptions.
Inspect work in progress and finished work for compliance with specifications and quality standards; document deficiencies and implement corrective actions.
Communicate with customers on-site to explain methods, materials and foreseeable impacts; document commitments and report them to project management.
Coordinate deliveries, subcontractors and third‑party inspections; manage staging and site logistics to maintain efficient sequencing.
Complete daily logs, timecards, material tickets and site photos; provide weekly progress and equipment usage summaries to project management.
Troubleshoot site conditions and propose adjustments to plans or scopes to the PM/estimator; prepare field change notes and assist in change order substantiation.
Provide training, mentoring and performance feedback to crew members; participate in performance reviews as requested.

Key skills, abilities and knowledge required

Proven field leadership and crew supervision; practical expertise in landscape installation trades (irrigation, planting, grading, sod, hardscape); competency operating and coordinating light to medium construction equipment; ability to read plans and interpret scopes; basic estimating and labor/equipment costing skills; strong safety knowledge and ability to enforce standards; clear written and verbal communication for internal reporting and client interaction; problem‑solving and on‑the‑spot decision making; record keeping and basic digital literacy (mobile reporting, timecards, photo documentation). Desirable additional attributes include formal safety training (OSHA 10/30), irrigation certification, masonry/hardscape experience, and experience preparing field estimates and change order documentation.
